Concept demos are few and far between but PRODUCT – two Torbay teenagers – have put paid to that with an instrumental album that aurally relates a simple yet intensely interpreted story of betrayal, revenge and remorse. You get the feeling that the cold industrial machinations of NIN, Suicide,Pole, David Lynch plus a whole bunch of avant-electroniks have been a guiding force in their journey, especially when things begin to crumble for our protagonist (‘Factory Floor’) and a sense of unbridled loathing erupts. Sparse, repetitive, claustrophobic, unsettling and, at times, densely atonal, this album may not set many toes a-tapping but it certainly reveals some maverick, morbid and imaginative young minds at work.
